The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has reached a settlement with Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr following the controversial comments he made about the LGBTQI+ community.
Hofmeyr took to his Facebook page over the weekend where he apologised for his comments.
The Commission dragged Hofmeyr to court over his remarks on social media that Disney's plan to have more inclusive characters, is to groom children to have sex with animals.
Hofmeyr also said that the LGBTQIA+ community represents bestiality.
The settlement agreement was made an order of the court in Gqeberha on Monday.
Hofmeyr was ordered to pay an amount of R100 000 and must participate in a diversity and inclusivity awareness conversation to be presented by the Human Rights Commission.
