An alleged fraudster who has been on the run for five years was arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport.
Spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the 54-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday.
He says the woman allegedly ran bogus Nursing Colleges and fraudulently registered unsuspecting students under the pretext that they were studying for a diploma in Nursing.
The victims were also assured of employment across the Limpopo Province upon completion of their studies.
Brigadier Mojapelo says the suspect's fraudulent dealings were unmasked when it was eventually discovered that the Colleges were not authentic.
The students immediately opened cases of fraud and theft in Polokwane, Morebeng, Thohoyandou, Waterval and other places in Gauteng.
The suspect fled to Nigeria in 2017.
Brigadier Mojapelo says police made their breakthrough on Saturday when they got info about the suspect who was returning to South Africa from Nigeria.
He says officers pounced on her at the airport just moments after she arrived.
She is expected to appear in the Louis Trichardt Magistrates Court on Monday.
