A man who sexually abused his stepchildren for nearly a decade will be sentenced in April.
The 41-year-old man, on Wednesday, pleaded guilty to 426 charges that included rape, using a child for child pornography, creation and production of pornography, possession of pornography, attempted rape, attempted compelled rape, sexual assault, exposing children to child pornography and causing a child to witness sexual masturbation.
The Judge at the High Court sitting in Benoni accepted his guilty plea.
A spokesperson for the Nasional Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Gauteng Lumka Mahanjana says the abuse started in 2012 when his two stepsons were aged six and 14 and his stepdaughter only seven months old.
During his guilty plea, the man admitted trying to rape his minor daughter a couple of times but failed.
Mahanjana says the offences took place in their home when the mother was at work and the children were left in his care.
During this time he would often ask the minor boys to take pictures of their sister’s private parts.
In his plea statement, he admitted to raping the boys a couple of times and compelling them to rape their sister or perform sexual acts on each other while he watched or make them watch while he performed sexual acts on one of them.
The rapist, whose identity is being withheld to protect the victims was arrested earlier this month when one of the children confided in a family member who reported the matter to police.
Mahanjana says once the case was opened the other children opened up about their experiences.
The man will be back in court on the 7th of April for sentencing.
