A ballistics expert testified Wednesday that Reeva Steenkamp was in a defensive position when she was hit by the last shots Oscar Pistorius fired at her through a locked toilet door when she was killed on Valentines Day last year.
Captain Chris Mangena told the High Court in Pretoria on day 13 of the Blade Runner's murder trial that Steenkamp was in a defensive position with her arms in front of her chest and face.
Mangena explained that Steenkamp had an entrance and exit wound on her right arm and that this arm was raised because bits of flesh transferred to the black vest she was wearing.
She also had a wound to her left hand where it was hit by the same bullet that struck her in the head, fracturing her skull, said Mangena.
The State then called to the witness stand a mobile phone expert who testified that Pistorius had visited porn and used car websites not long before Steenkamp died.
After this testimony, Prosecuter Gerrie Nel was granted an adjournment until Monday to allow the State to make final witness consultations as it prepares to wrap up its case.
