Thursday evening's State of the Nation address by President Jacob Zuma has been postponed, amid growing pressure for him to step down.
Addressing journalists on the steps of Parliament a short while ago, National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete announced that Thursday's State of the Nation address has been postponed and that a new date will be announced soon.
ANC Chief Whip Jackson Mntembu endorsed Mbete's view that it was in the best interests of the party and the country that SONA be postponed.
Earlier: The ANC confirmed media reports as true that its National Executive Committee (NEC) will make a decision on the fate of President Jacob Zuma tomorrow, amid rising calls for him to step down.
The meeting will be held in Cape Town.
