Eskom has announced that it will implement stage 2 loadshedding from 12-noon on Tuesday through to 10 pm as the power system is severely constrained.
In a statement on its official twitter feed, the power utility says its been forced to implement loadshedding because of the pressure multiple breakdowns has put on the system.
Ten generation units suffered breakdowns at seven power plants in the past 48 hours.
Unplanned breakdowns stand at 11 665 Megawatts of capacity, adding to the 4558 Megawatts currently out on planned maintenance.
The embattled power utility also warned that any further deterioration in the generation performance my necessitate the escalation of loadshedding at short notice.
