Former World Cup-winning Springbok lock Hannes Strydom has been killed in a car accident.
The 58-year-old player who was part of the 1995 World Cup winning team, was killed on the N4 near Witbank on Sunday.
Strydom's wife confirmed his death to Netwerk24 on Monday.
Johannes Jacobus 'Hannes' Strydom who was also a pharmacist was born in Welkom in the Free State and matriculated at Pearson High School in Gqeberha.
Details of the accident are not yet clear.
