A 48-year-old man is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday after being arrested for speeding.
The man was arrested on Saturday after he was caught driving his Golf 7 TSI at an average speed of 203km/h.
The driver was caught during a special operation on the N4 West towards Rustenburg, which marked the closing of the festive season safety campaign.
He was formally charged with reckless driving and exceeding the speed limit. He was released shortly after his arrest and will be in court on Monday to determine his bail.
The MEC for community safety in Gauteng Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane said most accidents are caused by excessive speed.
Over a thousand people have died on SA's roads over the festive season.
