National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete is considering the suspension of Economic Freedom Fighters MP's who disrupted questions to President Jacob Zuma last Thursday.
She told MP's on Tuesday that that matter has been referred to parliament's Powers and Privileges Committee which will be tasked with probing the actions of EFF leader Julius Malema and his fellow MPs and whether this constituted contempt of the legislature.
Mbete says a report with recommendations will be submitted to the National Assembly as a "matter of urgency".
She says in addition, she will decide whether EFF MP's should be suspended while the committee conducted its probe.
EFF members would be given an opportunity to provide Mbete with written reasons why they should not be suspended.
