Extra-ordinary measures in place to prevent future chaos in Parliament

Defence Minister, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, says extra-ordinary measures have been put in place to prevent a repeat of the "chaos" that broke out in Parliament last week.

She was speaking at a briefing by the Minister in the the Justice, Crime Prevention, and Security cluster.

Mapisa-Nqakula condemned the action of Economic Freedom Fighters MP's who disrupted proceedings in the National Assembly last Thursday while President Jacob Zuma was answering questions.

Responding to questions from the media, Mapisa-Nqakula made the following remark.

"There are rules in Parliament and the rules were drawn up by South Africans. There is a constitution which guarantees rights to people. If your understanding is that there was no threat to security, because you did not see any weapons, then I beg to differ with you"
