A Protea Glen schoolgirl, who was struck by lightning earlier this week, died in the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital in Johannesburg on Friday.
The Gauteng education department says Education MEC, Barbara Creecy visited her in hospital on Wednesday evening to get a briefing from the medical practitioners, and also met with her parents.
She was one of four Protea Glen girls, all aged 16, who were struck by lightning while on their way home from school on Monday.
