Solidarity contemplating legal action over affirmative action

 Trade union Solidarity says its contemplating a major legal onslaught against prison authorities over affirmative action.

Solidarity's Dirk Hermann, says over 30 individual cases could be consolidated, making this the biggest affirmative action case yet in South Africa.

He says in these instances, correctional service employees were the best candidates but were passed over for promotion because of the policy of absolute national demographic representivity.
