Transport Minister S'bu Ndebele says a minimum of 10-thousand motorists will be stopped and screened for alcohol every month.
Drunk pedestrians will also be arrested.
Ndebele announced the crackdown after releasing the traffic statistics for the recent Easter weekend.
The minister stressed that 60-percent of fatal crashes are as a result of abuse of alcohol.
