Comments attributed to President Jacob Zuma about black people keeping dogs, has triggered a buzz on social media.
IOL quotes Zuma as saying that spending money on buying a dog, taking it to the vet and for walks, belong to the white culture and is not "the African way."
Instead, the African way is to focus on the family.
Zuma was speaking at a traditional ceremony in KwaZulu-Natal.
He reportedly also said there was a new generation of young Africans who were trying to adopt other lifestyles and even trying to look like others.
Zuma said even if black people apply any kind of lotion and straighten their hair, they will never be white.
