One of South Africa's most famous "prisoners" and TV legend George Ballot has died.
According to a report in Netwerk24, 77-year-old Ballot was found dead in his home in Riebeek-Kasteel on Monday.
Ballot was better known for his role in the Afrikaans prison drama "Vyfster", which followed the lives of prisoners and wardens at Pretoria Central Prison.
The actor became a household name for his role as Skollie Williams which ran for two seasons between 1984 and 1986.
The theme song for Vyfster, composed by Trevor Nasser is also one of the most iconic songs in South Africa's television history.
