Six die after weekend shack fires

 Six people died and more than 360 were displaced after fires that ravaged parts of the country last week.

The deadly blazes were mostly shack fires.

Meanwhile, residents of Port Elizabeth and environs were advised to beware of veld fires, which flared up over the weekend.

Municipal spokesperson Marthie Nel says there was a major fire in the Sardinia Bay area over the weekend, but fire-fighters brought it under control.
