Gauteng police have arrested six people in connection with the murder of Kaizer Chiefs footballer, Luke Fleurs.
He was gunned down during a hijacking attempt on 3 April at a petrol station in Honeydew in Johannesburg.
Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, said members of a task team made the breakthrough, reportedly in Soweto.
Police said in an earlier statement that Fleurs was confronted by two men at a petrol station while he was waiting in his Golf 8 GTI.
He was reportedly taken out of the car and shot once in the upper body, before the suspects fled in his car.
Fleurs was rushed to the nearest medical care centre where he was certified dead on arrival.
