Free State police said an Ethiopian shopkeeper was shot and killed when three men robbed a spaza shop in Fouriesburg.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Thandi Mbambo, said the suspected entered the store in Mashaeng on Saturday night just before the curfew.
“One suspect, who was armed with a firearm, threatened the shopkeeper, Temsegel Jomole (32) and forced him into the bedroom whereby he allegedly shot and killed him.”
She said the gunman came out of the bedroom carrying a bag believed to have contained money, while his accomplices stole the money that was on the counter before fleeing.
Mbambo said during the investigation police found one of the suspects dead next to the R-26 road with gunshot wounds on his back.
She said the search for the other two suspects is continuing.
