One of Port Elizabeth's tourism landmarks has re-opened to the public.
Shark Rock Pier at Hobie Beach has been out of commission since the beginning of the year, due to a major upgrade and refurbishment.
Despie breezy conditions on the beach front, a number of locals have already taken a leisurely stroll along the pier after it reopened on Tuesday afternoon
The upgrade to the Pier included the replacement of all the timber on the pier, as well as the replacing and repairing of the galvanised steel stanchions.
The middle timbers were upgraded to a polymer concrete insert and all the lighting on the pier was also given a complete make over.
Now that it has finally been restored to its former glory, Shark Rock Pier will likely take centre stage when the Metro officially marks the opening of the season with the traditional fireworks display in mid December.
