Serial rapists commits suicide ahead of court appearance

 A man accused of raping 34 children and two women has committed suicide.

Phindi Louw of the National Prosecuting Authority says they've received documentation from prison officials in the South of Johannesburg, that the suspect will not appear in court because he is dead.

Forty-two-year-old, Sifiso Makubo, was due to appear in court on Thursday on 122 charges.

These include counts of rape, kidnapping, murder, robbery and attempted murder by infecting his victims with HIV.

The crimes took place in the Kathorus area during 2006.

Makubo was arrested in 2011.
