The 51-year-old Senakal man, accused of attempted murder, malicious damage to state property and public violence, will have to wait few more days to know if he will be released on bail or not.
Magistrate Buti Mlangeni on Friday reserved judgement on the matter of the State versus the accused.
The suspect is accused of inciting violence and also threatening and assaulting a female officer by throttling her during public violence in the Free State town on Tuesday.
He is also alleged to have influenced a group of protestors to destroy court property and set the State's police van alight.
Meanwhile, his defence has brushed off the State's testimony and labelled it as speculation.
The suspect remains in custody until 13 October, when a judgment will be made.
The defence has further accused the state of arresting to investigate rather than to investigate to arrest. The defence added that the state does not have evidence that the accused influenced or incited the violence.
The State is opposing the bail.
Tuesday's violence followed the appearance of two suspected murderers of the slain 21-year-old Brendin Horner.
Two suspected murderers, Sekwetje Mahlamba (32) and Sekola Matlaletsa (44) appeared in court in Senekal for the first time Tuesday after being nabbed on Saturday for the alleged murder of Horner the week before, at Paul Roux near Bethlehem.
