Police commissoner, Rhiya Phiyega, says all security plans are in place to ensure a safe and peaceful Orange Africa Cup of Nations.
Briefing the media in Johannesburg on Thursday, commissioner Phiyega also congratulated the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure for setting up the plan in a very short time.
"It is a shining example of how all South Africans should pull together in harmony to achieve common goals, this structure operates really well each and every entity in sync with the next and all of them working towards a common goal which for us is a goal that seeks to achieve peace, safety and stability" Phiyega said.
Meanwhile, Eastern Cape premier Noxolo Kiviet will host a gala dinner for the four teams based in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Mali, Niger, DRC and Ghana, who jetted into the city an hour ago, will play their round robin matches at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium starting with a double header on Sunday.
