The family of a German tourist, who went missing in Cape Town on Valentine’s Day, has taken to social media to help find young Nick Frischke.
According to police, 22-year-old Frischke was last seen leaving a store at the V&A Waterfront and has been missing since.
Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, said Frischke arrived in South Africa on February 6 and stayed at an Airbnb in Pinelands.
He says at the time of his disappearance, he was last seen wearing blue denim shorts with white tekkies and a beige T-shirt and a backpack.
Meanwhile, Nick’s relative, Tom, has taken to Facebook to find him.
In one post he wrote: “We miss Nick. He is currently on holiday in Cape Town and has lost contact since Wednesday. He also did not come home on Wednesday and Thursday in his accommodation (in Pinelands). All his stuff is still there. Thursday he signed up for a surf course and he never showed up for. We don't know what to do and think that he is in a helpless situation. The mountain guard and local police, as well as the Germans, are informed.”
On Saturday he said the search was still on.
On Sunday, both peaks in the area where Nick was last seen were searched on foot, by helicopters, and boats without success.
Frischke is scheduled to fly back to his home country on Thursday.
Swartbooi has appealed to anyone with information that can assist with information that will lead to Nick’s safe return is requested to contact the investigating officer Detective Sgt Daluxolo Mhlauli on 076 609 0764.
