The search for a new head for the National Prosecuting Authority is underway.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has invited a number of legal organisations and independent public institutions to help him identify and select a new candidate to replace Shaun Abrahams after the Constitutional Court gave him 90 days to find a suitable replacement for him.
The Presidency said the panel will be chaired by Minister Jeff Radebe and will be requested to identify potential candidates, establish if they meet the required criteria, conduct interviews and recommend at least three candidates to the President.
Presidential spokesperson, Khuselo Diko, said while the panel would make recommendations, the Constitution prescribed that ultimately only the president could appoint the National Director of Public Prosecution.
