The MEC for Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi has confirmed that the grade RR teacher at Learskool Kollegepark was one of the three suspects arrested in connection with 6-year-old Amy Leigh de Jager's kidnapping on Monday.
The school also issued a statement to confirm that one of their colleagues was arrested.
Police made the breakthrough on Wednesday night when two women aged 27 and 40 were arrested in their homes in Vanderbiljpark.
A 50-year-old man was also arrested.
Lesufi, who will meet with leaders from the school on Thursday afternoon, says the teacher was hired by the school governing body and is not part of the Department's personnel.
He says, however, that his Department has a responsibility to protect all the children at the school.
Lesufi says the teacher will be disciplined through the structures of the SGB.
The teacher and her two co-accused will appear in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates court on Friday.
