The SA Police Service has launched an anti-corruption unit to fight fraud and corruption in the police.
National police commissioner, General Rhia Phiyega, said on Thursday that the unit would start operating during the current financial year.
She said if the SAPS is to successfully fight crime in the country, then it must first get its own house in order.
Phiyega said between June last year and June this year, 525 police officers had been dismissed for crimes including corruption and fraud.
