Eastern Cape Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, has lashed out at outspoken Abathembu King, Buye-lekhaya Dalindyebo over his recent remarks about president Jacob Zuma.
In a strongly worded statement on Thursday, Qoboshiyane, said his disrespectful comments and derogatory insults towards president Zuma, breaches the set code of conduct for traditional leaders.
Qoboshiyane says the King's runaway disrespect and hysterical misbehavior, as he put it, gives impetus to the recommendation submitted by some of his family and clan members calling for his removal as king of the Abathembu.
"We call on those close to him, his bagman, side kicks who have been cheering him on while on his downward spiral, and advisers to advise him to refrain from this conduct because it doesn't only degenerate him but abaThembu as a whole.
While all of us in this country have a right to freedom of expression and opinion, none has a right to insult anyone, including the President of the Republic." says Qoboshiyane
He added that " The fact that he is a King doesn't give him license to insult our President or any other person for that matter but gives him a leadership responsibility, something that he appears to have long abdicated."
Meanwhile, the self-confessed dagga smoking King, said on Wednesday that he's not perturbed by being constantly associated with an illegal drug.
He says he is Rastafarian by nature and smoking dagga is a cultural behaviour.
