Police officer arrested for alleged rape of teen

 A Western Cape police officer was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Paarl.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate says the 41-year-old warrant officer from Mbekweni is accused of raping the teenager on numerous occasions.

IPID spokesperson, Moses Dlamini says in April this year, he allegedly went to the girl's home and raped her twice.

The rapes were reported on Tuesday and a case was opened.

The officer is expected to appear in the Paarl Magistrate's Court on Friday.
