The Democratic Alliance says the Special Investigating Unit's interim report for April to September has revealed that 115 members of the SA Police Service were directly linked to suppliers used by the police service for building contracts to the value of R50m.
DA MP, Dianne Kohler-Barnard says this is a revelation of potential corruption on a massive scale.
She says the SIU's report confirms that SAPS began building their own facilities as early as 2005 under the auspices of "own resources".
Kohler-Barnard says 33 police stations were built without any clear legislative mandate for the SAPS to build their own stations.
"Once again one must ask why the top-bra's seem to take no action to curb what seems like a never ending tale of corruption in the SAPS the report says they failed to comply with the prescribed tender processes, that budgets were exceeded, besides the 115 members directly linked to building supplies they identified 215 possible conflict of interests" Kohler-Barnard said.
