People trapped after 8 vehicle pile-up on the N3

Five people were trapped under a truck trailer after their bakkie collided with 8 other vehicles on the N3 in Pinetown on
Tuesday, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said 9 other people were injured and taken to hospital when three trucks, two bakkies and a car collided on the freeway in the direction of Pietermaritzburg

It was not yet clear what caused the collision.

The freeway was closed with only one lane open for traffic.

Paramedics were still at the scene.
