SANParks says it is bracing for disruptions to its business after several countries imposed a travel ban on South Africa.
This, following the emergence of the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron - believed to be behind the spike in infections, especially in Gauteng.
Several countries, including the United Kingdom, the USA, Germany, Italy, and Singapore have imposed travel bans on South Africa after the discovery of the new variant.
The Managing Executive for Tourism Development and Marketing at SANParks, Hapiloe Sello says the latest developments call for a proactive approach to minimize the impact on clients.
She says they have decided that booked clients from the countries that have introduced travel bans to South Africa will not be charged fees or penalties for amendments and postponements for a 12-month period from 26 November until such time as the travel bans are lifted.
"We want to assure our visitors, particularly local travelers that our national parks remain open and quite likely amongst the safest destinations to travel to", Sello said.
