A South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldier who was positively identified as being visibly drunk in a viral video has been missing in action now for 25 days.
A spokesperson for the SANDF Brigadier General Mafi Mgobozi says the army condemns the video showing one of their members drunk in uniform and in public.
He says the soldier has been AWOL since the 27th of July and even though the exact date and location of the video is not clear at this time, the SANDF is working closely with the Tshwane Metro Police division to determine all details surrounding this incident.
Brigadier Mgobozi called his behaviour disgraceful and said that Military Police officers are working tirelessly to determine his whereabouts and bring him to book.
He says once the soldier is found he will be charged by the Court of Military Justice for drunkenness and for being AWOL.
