The South African National Defence Force says it is busy verifying media reports that one of its members was involved in a shootout with police this week.
This comes after six Zimbabwean nationals who were being transported by police, were freed by the heavily armed gang during a daring daytime raid outside Louis Trichardt, earlier this week.
Subsequent reports noted that an SANDF member was part of the gang involved in the skirmish.
SANDF spokesperson, Siphiwe Dlamini, said they're busy establishing if the person is in fact an SANDF member.
He also assured the public that this would be an isolated incident, adding that members of the Defence Force are guided at all times by the code of conduct.
Meanwhile, police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, confirmed that the members of the Limpopo Tracking Team and Murder and Robbery Unit arrested two suspects, aged 28 and 38, for their alleged involvement in the attack, on Wednesday evening.
Mojapelo says the suspects were arrested in Musina and the two motor vehicles that were used in the commission of the crime, a grey Mercedes Benz and a white Toyota bakkie, were also found during the arrest and confiscated.
The following escapees are still at large:
Forward Shumba, 26
Shingirai Nyandome,32
Brilliant Sibanda, 26
Erick Sithole, 35
Moses Zambara,32
Alex Nkomo,35.
