The South African National Defence force has identified the soldier who died on Wednesday when the Ratel ZT3 he was travelling in, lost control and overturned with five members on board.
The 37-year-old Corporal Randal Jacques Krynauw from Malmesburry in the Western Cape was stationed in Bloemfontein at 1 Special Service Battalion.
Spokesperson Brigadier General Mafi Mgobozi says Krynauw and four other soldiers were on their way to Cape Town in preparation for the Armed Forces Day parade to be held on the 21st of February.
The four soldiers were stabilised at the scene of the accident and taken to 3 Military Hospital in Bloemfontein.
Minister of Defense and Military Veterans Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and SANDF chief, General Solly Shoke, conveyed their condolences to the family, loved ones and colleagues of the deceased and wished the injured soldiers a speedy recovery.
