Statistics South Africa says the number of unemployed people in the country increased to 4.7 million in the second quarter of this year.
Releasing its Quarterly Labour Force Survey on Tuesday, Stats SA said compared to to the same period last year, the national unemployment rate increased by 0.7% from 24.9- 25.6 percent.
Provinces that experienced the highest increase in unemployment were KwaZulu-Natal with 2.9% and the Eastern Cape with 2.2 percent.
