A 61-year-old man from the Western Cape has become the latest victim of the coronavirus, bringing the death toll in the country to 25, while the confirmed number of COVID-19 cases now stands at 2 028.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize said on Saturday evening that this was an increase of 25 from the previous day.
The Eastern Cape has 69 confirmed cases.
Mkhize said a total number of 75 053 COVID-19 tests had been conducted.
The minister said the latest victim had underlying medical conditions, which included diabetes and hypertension.
