SA records more than 10 000 new COVID-19 cases in a day

Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize has confirmed that South Africa had recorded its highest daily spike in Covid-19 cases to date, after 10 856 new infections were reported on Saturday, bringing the total to 187 977.

A total of 3 026 people have died of the virus after 74 new deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.

The Eastern Cape has recorded 34 161 cases with 490 deaths.

Mkhize says nationally, more than 91 200 people have recovered from the virus.
