The family of South African music star, Lira, said the singer suffered a stroke while on a recent trip to Germany.
According to a family statement, her ability to communicate, in particular her speech, has been impacted.
“She is currently undergoing medical treatment here in South Africa, led by the best medical team possible.”
“Her medical team advised that her journey to recovery will require patience, and therefore, it is unlikely that she will be able to perform in the short term,” the statement posted on Facebook said.
It added that Lira was “in good spirits, surrounded by loving family and close friends as she journeys towards a full recovery.”
