South Africa exported R5.2b worth of military equipment during the last three quarters of 2011, according to the National Conventional Arms Control Committee, representing an apparent drop in exports.
Figures released to Parliament show that South Africa exported R8.32b worth of arms to 89 countries in 2010.
The Committee told parliament that between April and December last year, R1.75b worth of arms import permits were approved.
Twenty Seven billion rands worth of contracting permits were issued during the same period.
