Four people were killed and 23 others injured when an out-of-control truck ploughed into vendors and commuters at the Maseru Port of Entry on Tuesday.
Free State police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, says the truck also collided with a stationary taxi and also hit several more people before ending up in a riverbed.
He said the driver apparently, travelling from South Africa to Lesotho, lost control of the truck, which then crashed at around 8 am.
Makhele says the driver was critically injured and was taken to Ladybrand Hospital with the other injured people.
A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
