KZN police have launched a manhunt for at least three gunmen responsible for a mass shooting that claimed the lives of five people in Marianhill, on the outskirts of Pinetown.
Two others were wounded in the two separate incidents on Monday afternoon.
Provincial police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says three gunmen first stormed a vehicle workshop and opened fire on three people, including the owner of the business.
"The owner and one person were declared dead at the scene and a third person was rushed to hospital for treatment."
Netshiunda says the same suspect reportedly proceed to another vehicle workshop just a street away and shot and killed the owner and two other people who were working at the workshop.
"The victims were relatives. The eldest deceased are in their 50s while the other two are reported to be in their late 30s. Although the motive is yet to be established, nothing was stolen through the shooting."
