The number of rhino poached for their horn in South Africa since the beginning of the year has increased to 249.
The Department of Environmental Affairs says Kruger National Park remains the hardest hit, with the number of rhino poached since last week increasing from 167 to 180.
A total of 21 rhino have been poached in North West, 18 in KwaZulu-Natal, 17 in Limpopo and 13 in Mpumalanga.
Department spokesperson, Albie Modise, says the number of poachers arrested countrywide has increased to 78, while a total of 73 people are facing poaching related charges and additional charges.
