The Hawks are offering a sizable reward to anyone with information which might lead to the identification, arrest and conviction of a man believed to be a member of a gang that stole 50 million in foreign currency from the State Security Agency offices in Pretoria during the Christmas holidays.
Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi says a group of men gained access to the SSA offices, broke into a safe and disappeared with the money.
The crime scene was only discovered the following day.
Since then, the Hawks have made significant progress but still seek the public’s assistance in bringing the perpetrators to book.
One of the strongest leads they have to work on is CCTV video footage of one of the suspects taken during the robbery.
