Reward offered for attacks on doctors

A big reward is on offer following the brutal attack on doctors at Letaba Hospital and at Lebowakgomo this week.

Limpopo police have made R100 000 available for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the assailants.

Five men attacked doctors in their quarters at Letaba Hospital outside Tzaneen on Thursday morning, robbing them of cash and electronic equipment.  One of the doctors was shot and wounded.

In a similar attack at Lebowakgomo Hospital early on Saturday morning, a group of about seven men broke into the doctors' residence robbing them of money, cell phones, and laptops.

Police said in both incidents the suspects gained access to the premises by breaking concrete bars in the fences behind the residences before proceeding to the homes of the doctors.

Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nneke Ledwaba has activated the 72-hour action plan to hunt down the criminals.
