Police in Wesselsbron in the Free State are searching for a man who allegedly raped a teenager over seven years ago.
Spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng says the victim, who was 17 years old at the time, was raped at her home in Monyajeng Township in 2015.
The suspect who called himself "Nkosikhona" threatened the victim not to tell anyone.
Captain Thakeng says on the 13th of February this year the woman tried to commit suicide and it was then that she told her mother what had happened at their house in 2015.
He says the victim was living in an outside room on their property where the suspect gained entry.
Captain Thakeng says the victim was able to assist police with an identikit and a search for him is now underway.
