A 49-year-old bookkeeper from Pretoria was sentenced to 10 years of direct imprisonment after she stole over R2.3 million from her employer.

Dianne De Beer, who worked at Servopak Suppliers, was convicted of 44 counts of fraud in the Commercial Crimes Court in Pretoria this week.

A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Gauteng Lamka Mahanjana says De Beer spent the money on holidays in Bali, luxury vehicles and clothing and groceries from known retailers.

She says during Judgment the Magistrate said De Beer was not sorry for what she had done but was only sorry for being caught.

De Beer defrauded the company between September 2016 and October 2019 stealing an average of R72 000 per month for three years.

Mahanjana says a BMW-3 she bought for herself as well as a Mini Cooper she bought for her daughter will be actioned off the pay back the company.
