Tributes poured in for well-known South African radio personality, Mark Pilgrim, who has died at the age of 53.
He passed away in Johannesburg on Sunday morning after losing his long-running battle with cancer.
Hot 102.7FM paid tribute to Pilgrim, saying he had found his “spiritual home” at the radio station where he produced and anchored the “award-winning” Mark Pilgrim Show from Monday to Saturday.
Managing Director, Lloyd Madurai, said they were “devastated by Mark’s death.”
“Old school radio pros like Mark don’t come around very often and the only comfort we can draw is the fact that Mark had an incredible impact on not just South African radio, but the broader community, bravely fighting this awful disease in the public eye, and inspiring and giving hope to people in a similar position,” he said.
Thousands of fans and people in the industry paid tribute to Pilgrim on social media.
