The Western Cape Disaster Management Centre has been alerted to an influx of visitors to the Cape Winelands with visitors allegedly attempting to see the snowfall on the mountain ranges in the area.
The Cape Winelands is one of the five districts that was flagged as a Covid hotspot in the country.
Social media was flooded with beautiful pictures of snow falling in areas like Ceres, Op-die-Berg and Prince Alfred’s Hamlet in particular where snowfall is prevalent.
The Minister of Local Government Anton Bredell urged residents not to travel as restrictions are still in place with regards to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Severe weather conditions will continue throughout the Western Cape.
