Prosecutor arrested for asking bribe to weaken a case

A Public Prosecutor from Durban is expected to appear in the cities Magistrates Court on Thursday following her arrest for corruption.

The 39-year-old female prosecutor allegedly demanded cash from a complainant in order to weaken a case of shoplifting against a juvenile.

The matter was reported to the Hawks who acted swiftly and swooped in at the Durban  Magistrates Court where they observed the suspect receiving cash from the complainant.

The Prosecutor was arrested on the spot.
