Investigators from the Serious Organised Crime Unit in Mpumalanga arrested two women on Wednesday after seizing steroids at three different premises in two leafy suburbs in Pretoria East.
Spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale says this was an intelligence driver operation involving several of their counterparts including the Hawks, Digital forensic Laboratory and the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA)
The raids were done in the upmarket estates of Silverlakes and Willow Acres.
Mogale says at the first location in Silverlakes Estate, the team recovered steroids, alleged to have been manufactured on the site and arrested a 38-year-old woman.
He says at the second location they found a storage facility in Meerlust Street, Equestria, where the steroids were in various stages of packaging.
At the third location in Willow Acres Estate, more steroids were found and a 35-year-old woman arrested.
The value of the steroids and all the packaging materials are worth an estimated R3 million.
The two women will appear in court on Thursday.
